Wheal Buller Riding School is a family-run equestrian centre that has been established in Cornwall since 1984, providing riding tuition and horsemanship opportunities for riders of all ages and abilities. Lessons are open to children from four years old upwards, making the centre a common starting point for families looking to introduce young riders to horses, while adult riders can also book regular sessions or structured courses. The centre runs school and group sessions alongside private lessons, and tuition covers a broad range of disciplines including dressage, show jumping, cross country, side saddle, hacking, beach riding and trekking.
The facilities support year-round riding in the Cornish climate. Riders can train in a floodlit indoor school during winter months or use the outdoor arena in finer weather, and a full set of cross country jumps is available on site. Hacking routes take in the surrounding countryside, and beach riding is offered as part of the centre's outdoor programme. A hot tub is available on site for riders to relax in after lessons or treks.
Wheal Buller runs residential riding holidays for both children and adults, allowing visitors to stay on site and combine daily lessons with hacking and stable management time. Holiday camps run during school breaks, giving younger riders an immersive introduction to ponies and horses. The centre also prepares candidates for ABRS exams, BHS exams and NVQ training, supporting those working towards recognised qualifications.
The school is open all year round and holds several accreditations, including the Association of British Riding Schools, Club Mark, OFSTED registration and a Quality Tourism Award at four stars. The combination of ABRS approval and OFSTED registration means the centre can cater for school groups as well as private bookings. Riders or parents interested in lessons, hacking, residential holidays or exam preparation can contact the centre directly to discuss availability and book sessions.
