Lakefield Equestrian Centre sits on the edge of Wadebridge in North Cornwall, set across 54 acres of pasture with views toward the surrounding countryside. The centre is listed on the British Horse Society approved register and operates as both an RDA approved centre and a Pony Club centre, providing a broad programme that covers recreational riders through to those working towards professional qualifications.
Riding lessons are available to children and adults, from complete beginners through to more experienced riders, in group, semi-private and private formats. The centre also runs Pony Club activities including a Saturday Club and day camps during school holidays. Riders with disabilities are catered for through regular RDA sessions, and the facilities are set up to be accessible. For those wanting time in the saddle outside of a lesson, hacking and farm rides are offered across the centre's grounds, with prices starting from GBP 18 for a farm ride hack.
Training is a major part of what Lakefield does. The centre delivers BHS career training for Stages 1 through 4 and runs apprenticeships in both stable management and riding instruction. Disciplines taught on site include dressage, show jumping and cross country, with a course of cross country jumps and three schooling areas to support all three. Livery is offered in working, part-working, full and schooling options, giving owners flexibility around how much DIY or full care they require.
The facilities include a 25x50m indoor arena, a 25x60m outdoor school, a 40x20m all weather arena, a horse walker with a claydon and rubber floor, a horse solarium, a clipping box and a feed store. There is parking, a play area for younger visitors and a dog exercise area. A licensed caravan park and campsite is on site for visitors who want to stay over. The centre is open six days a week from 7am to 7.30pm, with the office staffed Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm (Tuesdays closed for riding) and at weekends from 11am to 5pm. The postcode is PL27 6JD.
