Monach Farm Riding Stables
Hilton, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Set on a working livestock farm in the Cambridgeshire village of Hilton near Huntingdon, Monach Farm Riding Stables provides horse riding lessons, hacks and cross country jumping to a broad range of riders. The school welcomes complete beginners through to more experienced equestrians, and teaching is tailored to suit each rider's ability. Group lessons form the core of the timetable, with hacks out onto the surrounding countryside also available for those looking to put their schooling into practice.
Younger riders are particularly well catered for. Children aged three and four can be introduced to ponies through the short Angels Rides, while Tiny Tots events and Own A Pony Days give primary-aged children the chance to spend extended time around the ponies, learning to handle and care for them as well as ride. During the school holidays the running of junior camps provides full days of supervised riding and stable activities, making the school a popular choice for families looking for horse-focused holiday provision.
The facilities reflect the working farm setting. Indoor barns allow lessons and activities to continue during poor weather, while a farm shop on site means visitors can browse local produce during their visit. Riders and accompanying adults have access to a staff room with tea and coffee-making facilities, alongside toilet and hand washing provision. The cross country course gives riders the chance to tackle fences and obstacles away from the arena, adding variety to their riding experience.
Monach Farm Riding Stables holds accreditation with the ABRS and the BHS, giving reassurance regarding welfare and teaching standards. The stables are located in Hilton, postcode PE28 9NF, within easy reach of Huntingdon and the wider Cambridgeshire area. Term-time opening hours run from Tuesday to Thursday 10:30am to 4:45pm, Friday 10:30am to 12:30pm, Saturday 10am to 3:15pm and Sunday 10:30am to 2:30pm, with Mondays closed. Prices start from GBP 17 for the Angels Ride. Interested riders should contact the school directly to book lessons, camps or Own A Pony Days.
