Woodbridge and District Group RDA

Woodbridge, Suffolk

BHS approved

Woodbridge and District Group RDA operates as a Riding for the Disabled Association charity centre in Clopton, just outside Woodbridge in Suffolk. The group provides therapeutic horse riding, carriage driving, vaulting and non-mounted equine activities to disabled children and adults, including those with learning, physical and mental health needs. Lessons and structured sessions are delivered by trained coaches and volunteers, with the centre running sessions six days a week during school term time and additional summer activities during the holidays.

The centre welcomes riders and participants across a wide range of ages and abilities. Sessions are designed for children, young people and adults, and the Changing Lives Through Horses programme offers an alternative route for those who may not wish to ride. Private arena hire is available for coaches and groups looking for a purpose-built indoor space, and corporate volunteering days give organisations a chance to support the charity's work. Tea with a Pony events and other summer activities broaden what is on offer beyond regular lessons.

Set in a purpose-built facility, Woodbridge and District Group RDA benefits from 12 stables, a 40x20 indoor school, a vaulting barn and a carriage barn. Additional features include a horse walker, an under-cover tacking up area, a quiet room and classroom, a community room, tea and coffee making facilities and a viewing gallery for spectators. The site is accessible and has been designed with the needs of participants in mind, creating a calm and supportive environment.

The group is listed on the British Horse Society approved register and holds accreditations with the British Equestrian Charter for the Horse, the Riding for the Disabled Association and UKCC. Coaches hold relevant qualifications to deliver therapeutic riding, carriage driving and vaulting lessons. The centre can be found at postcode IP13 6QL in the East of England. Anyone interested in lessons, volunteering or making enquiries about sessions should contact the charity directly for current availability and booking information.
