Turville Valley Stud operates as a classical dressage training centre in the village of Turville, run by the Thurman-Baker family. The yard focuses on Portuguese Classical methods and works towards producing horses suited to the modern dressage competition ring. Lessons are available to riders on their own horse, with no school horse hire offered on site.
Training is open to horse owners who want to develop their horse's way of going under classical principles, whether that be through regular ridden lessons, in-hand work, or a period of short term schooling with the centre. Training liveries are offered for horses staying on the yard for an extended programme, and riders interested in working equitation will find this discipline is also taken on alongside the dressage work. Classical dressage displays are put on by the centre for events and spectators.
Two outdoor arenas provide the working space, measuring 20m x 40m and 20m x 60m, and parking is available on site for those bringing horses or coming to watch. The setting is the Turville Valley itself, a quiet rural location in the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border area that lends itself to a focused, training-led yard rather than a busy riding school.
Turville Valley Stud holds Association of British Riding Schools approved establishment status. Riders wishing to enquire about lessons, training liveries or short term schooling should contact the centre directly to discuss availability and arrangements.
