Budleigh Salterton Riding School

Budleigh Salterton, Devon

BHS approved

Budleigh Salterton Riding School is a long established British Horse Society approved centre on the Devon coast, providing a broad programme of equestrian activities for local riders and visitors. The school runs group and individual riding lessons and supports the BHS Challenge Award framework, giving children and adults structured goals to work towards as their skills progress. Clubs and courses run alongside the regular teaching timetable, covering a range of abilities from first time riders to more experienced equestrians.

The centre also delivers the Changing Lives Through Horses programme, an initiative aimed at young people who benefit from a more supported introduction to working with horses. Holiday camps are held during school breaks, and birthday parties can be arranged on site, making the school a practical option for families in and around East Devon. The school teaches children as well as adults, and lessons cater for complete beginners as well as riders returning to the saddle.

Beyond lessons, the yard offers full livery, short term and working livery arrangements, and a horse training service for owners who want their horses schooled on by experienced staff. The school also runs special and seasonal events through the year. The yard is licensed and operates from a postcode area (EX9) close to the Jurassic Coast and the town of Budleigh Salterton.

Because the school is currently at full capacity for new regular riders, anyone wanting ongoing lessons should expect to join a waiting list. One off holiday rides may sometimes be arranged for visitors, and enquiries of this kind are taken by email rather than by phone or in person. Livery clients and those interested in horse training, camps, clubs or birthday parties can also contact the school directly using the same route. The British Horse Society approved register listing confirms that the centre meets the society's standards for teaching, welfare and safety.
