Woldgate Trekking Centre

Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire

Woldgate Trekking Centre sits on the old Roman Road roughly one mile west of Bridlington, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The centre runs as both a riding school and a trekking establishment, with the hacking and trekking disciplines forming the core of its work. Guided rides take riders out onto the surrounding countryside, while structured lessons are available for those who prefer to build their skills in the school first.

Lessons and treks are open to riders of all ages and all abilities, including complete beginners and young children. The centre is set up to welcome disabled riders as well. Group sessions, half day treks and individual one hour treks are all offered, and safety hats are provided as part of the riding package. Beyond regular riding, Woldgate runs a Young Riders Club, birthday parties and occasional fun days, giving younger visitors several ways to get involved with horses without committing to full lessons.

An official Pony Club centre operates from the site, so children taking part in pony club activities can work through the recognised Pony Club programme under the centre's supervision. Group riding and grooming sessions give children and novices a chance to handle ponies as well as ride them, which is useful for building confidence around horses before progressing to mounted work.

Woldgate Trekking Centre is open six days a week, from Tuesday through to Sunday, and is closed on Mondays. The booking line runs from 9am to 4pm for anyone wanting to arrange a trek, lesson or party. Prices for guided riding start from GBP 25 for a one hour individual trek. The full postcode for satnav users is YO16 4XE, and anyone driving from Bridlington should head west out of town along the old Roman Road to find the centre.
