The Chestnut Stables

Norfolk

Set on the outskirts of King's Lynn in Norfolk, The Chestnut Stables is a family-run riding school that has been operating since the late 1980s. Lessons are offered to riders from the age of two upwards, with a broad programme covering group lessons, semi-private lessons, fully private lessons and lunge lessons. Those looking to build theoretical knowledge can also take part in theory lessons, and dedicated horse care sessions give attendees hands-on experience with stable management.

The school caters to complete beginners through to more established riders, with the BHS Challenge Awards scheme available for those working towards recognised goals. Children are well served by the children's lesson programme, pony parties and a pony camp that runs during school breaks. Rider alignment sessions are listed among the services for riders seeking to improve their position, and a woodland hack experience provides an off-road ride through the surrounding countryside.

Facilities include a floodlit outdoor arena, with two sand-based arenas measuring 18m x 20m and 20m x 40m, alongside stabling and grazing land for the school horses. There is a client car park on site, and the grounds offer enough space for a cross country course to complement the flatwork. Disciplines taught at the school cover dressage, show jumping, eventing, cross country, hacking and showing.

The Chestnut Stables is accredited by the ABRS and is licensed by the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Prices start from GBP 12 for a Pony Care Session. The office is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am until 2pm. The school is family-run and operates a structured lesson timetable alongside holiday activities, making it a practical option for families and individual riders across west Norfolk.
