Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre

North Walsham, Norfolk

Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre is an ABRS-approved riding school set in Worstead, North Norfolk, a short distance from North Walsham. The centre offers group and private lessons alongside hacking on off-road woodland tracks, catering for beginners as well as more experienced riders. Teaching covers dressage and natural horsemanship, with ABRS awards available for children and adults working through the structure.

The school works with a broad range of riders, including children taking their first lessons, school groups, hen parties and riders referred through the Worstead and District Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) group. Own a Pony days, horse care sessions and equine assisted learning give visitors who do not wish to ride a chance to handle and care for the horses. Hat hire is available on site for those without their own equipment.

Facilities include an all-weather menage for lessons, over 35 acres of grazing and a secure enclosed yard. The off-road hacking takes riders through the surrounding woodland rather than on public roads, which suits novices and riders looking for a quieter ride. Livery is offered for owners wanting to keep their horses at the centre.

Lessons start from GBP 28 for a half-hour group session. The centre is open Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00 and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The postcode is NR28 9RS. Riders and visitors are advised to contact Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre directly to book lessons, arrange livery, or enquire about school groups, hen parties and RDA sessions.
