Based in Curdridge near Southampton, Pony Magic is a small riding school that focuses on introducing young children to horses and ponies. Sessions are aimed primarily at riders aged 2 to 8, with limited opportunities available for older children on a New Forest pony. The school runs structured riding lessons alongside a wide range of pony related activities, making it a starting point for families with young children who are new to riding.
The school teaches beginners and offers hacking on its surrounding lanes, giving older or more confident children a chance to experience riding out in the countryside. Riding is supported by pony care sessions and horse and pony knowledge and care courses, which cover the practical side of looking after a pony. Holiday camps, unicorn and western themed activity hours, school and fete visits, mobile pony parties and equine assisted therapy are all part of the programme, alongside birthday parties held on site.
Facilities include an outdoor arena where lessons and activities take place, a marquee for events and shelter, a reception area for visitors, parking on site and a woodland walk. The setting is rural, with hacking routes accessible directly from the school. The site is accessible, which is useful for families with pushchairs or visitors with mobility needs.
Pony Magic holds British Horse Society approval and is listed on the BHS approved register. The lead coach holds a BHS Level 3 Complete Coach qualification, with additional BHS coaching 4all training. The school is licensed by Winchester City Council. Gift vouchers are available for lessons and activities. Enquiries can be made by contacting the school directly at postcode SO32 2HH in Hampshire.
