Set in Bacup on the edge of the Lancashire Pennines, NA Equestrian is a small family-run riding school that is fully licensed and open to riders of all ages and abilities. Lessons form the core of the business, with both group and private sessions available alongside clear round evenings, gymkhanas and stable management sessions. Pony club sessions run regularly for younger riders, and holiday camps give children the chance to spend extended time with the horses during school breaks.
For those who already own a horse, the school provides a livery service. Riders without their own pony can take part in own a pony days, which offer hands-on experience of looking after a horse. Hacking and trekking are also available, taking advantage of the surrounding countryside around Bacup and the Rossendale Valley. Disciplines taught on site include gymkhana, show jumping and stable management, giving riders the chance to try a range of activities rather than focusing on one area.
The facilities include an indoor arena, which allows lessons and Pony Club sessions to continue regardless of the weather, together with indoor stabling for the horses kept on the yard. A viewing area is provided for spectators and waiting parents, and there is parking available on site. The yard is family-run, and the team caters to both children taking their first lessons and more experienced riders looking to develop specific skills.
NA Equestrian is based at postcode OL13 9XA in Lancashire, within easy reach of surrounding towns in the North West. Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with the school closed on Tuesdays and Sundays. Prices start from GBP 10 for a 15-minute taster session, making it straightforward for newcomers to give riding a go before committing to a full lesson. The school operates as a fully licensed riding school, giving reassurance to parents and guardians booking children onto sessions.
