Kimpton Cross Country Course is a cross country schooling venue set on a working arable farm in North Hertfordshire. The centre provides sole hire use of a 3km circuit featuring more than 45 fixed obstacles, with heights ranging from 50cm up to 1m and above. Each booking covers a two-hour session, giving riders uninterrupted time to school the course at their own pace.
The venue caters to riders focused on eventing and cross country training, from those introducing horses and ponies to solid obstacles through to combinations working at the upper heights. Hacking is available on site, and the cross country course can be used for training clinics and unaffiliated competitions throughout the year. An annual membership scheme is offered alongside pay-as-you-go sessions.
Facilities are practical and purpose-built for the discipline. There is hardstanding parking for horseboxes and trailers, and the working farm setting gives a rural backdrop to the course. The mix of obstacles across the 3km circuit allows riders to practise a variety of questions, from simpler logs and ditches to more demanding combinations.
Kimpton Cross Country Course is open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, unless otherwise stated. Schooling sessions start from £20 per horse for the two-hour block. Riders interested in memberships, clinics or competition dates should contact the venue directly for booking information and the latest schedule.
