Edinburgh Polo Club operates within the grounds of Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club near Currie on the western edge of the City of Edinburgh. The club is affiliated to the Hurlingham Polo Association and focuses exclusively on polo, catering to riders at every stage from complete beginners through to more experienced players looking for regular competitive play.
Lessons and instructional sessions form the core of what is on offer. Group and private polo lessons run alongside intro to polo sessions, instructional chukkas, weekend clinics and dedicated university polo lessons. Club chukkas give regular members the chance to play, while tournaments are held throughout the season. Pony hire is available, with student pony hire charged from 35 GBP per chukka (45 GBP for non-students), and private lesson prices are provided on request. The school also hosts corporate group bookings, hen and stag parties and polo days for those arranging a special event.
Facilities are built around the sport. Riders use a full size all-weather outdoor arena, a full size grass polo pitch and a separate practice pitch, with jumping facilities and tie-up space also on site. The clubhouse has a viewing deck overlooking the grounds, and there is parking for lorries and horse boxes. Livery is offered for polo liveries only, and hacking is available in the surrounding area for those wanting to take their horses out.
Edinburgh Polo Club sits in EH14 4QA, within easy reach of the city and the central Scotland road network. As an HPA-accredited club it works within the association's standards for coaching, ponies and play. Anyone interested in lessons, livery or events can contact the club directly through Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club for current availability and pricing.
