Eastmoors Riding School

St Leonards, Ringwood, Dorset

Eastmoors Riding School and Livery is based in St Leonards near Ringwood, on a 70 acre yard with direct access to woodland in the Dorset countryside. The school runs forest treks through Westmoors Plantation, with hacking routes that suit riders of mixed ability from beginners through to more experienced riders. Group forest treks of one hour are offered alongside one hour private treks, one and a half hour treks, and canter rides for advanced riders who want to make the most of the open ground.

Children from age 7 are welcome, and beginners are taught as part of regular group sessions, so families and first time riders can be accommodated on the same rides as more confident riders. Riders need to be aged seven or over for the treks, and the school is set up to take groups out on set ride times through the working week and at weekends. Gift vouchers are available for those looking to give a trek as a present.

On site there is a 20 metre rubber round pen, a floodlit 20m x 40m outdoor arena with an x-ride surface, a summer jump paddock, individual turnout paddocks, same sex herds in larger fields, CCTV, ample storage, parking and a toilet. The hacking takes in the surrounding woodland, giving treks a rural feel straight from the yard. DIY livery is offered on the 70 acre property, so liveries benefit from the same paddocks, storage and hacking as the riding school clients.

The school is licensed by Dorset Council under their 5 star horse welfare and health and safety scheme, and rides run Wednesday to Sunday at 10am, 11.15am and 2.15pm for one hour sessions, with one and a half hour rides at 9.30am and 2pm. Opening hours are Monday and Tuesday 9.30am to 2pm, and Wednesday to Sunday 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm. Tuesdays are also open during school holidays. Prices start from GBP 68 for a one hour group forest trek. The postcode is BH24 2SB.
