Craven College - Equine Division
Skipton, North Yorkshire
Craven College Equine Division, based at Craven Arena in Skipton, operates as part of the wider Craven College campus rather than a conventional riding school. The facility caters to students of the college alongside the local equestrian community, offering arena hire, training clinics, and a competition calendar that runs throughout the year.
The venue hosts unaffiliated dressage and showjumping competitions, clear round nights, and jump nights open to external riders. Training is available through dressage clinics, showjumping clinics, and gymnastic jumping clinics, with lectures and demonstrations also scheduled. Pony Club rallies and riding club events take place on site, and the centre is licensed to teach children, making it suitable for younger riders working towards Pony Club tests and goals.
Riders benefit from two arenas. The indoor arena measures 69 metres by 35 metres with an Andrew Bowen Pro Wax surface and full-length mirrors, while the outdoor arena is 42 metres by 28 metres and floodlit, allowing evening use. A turn out field and stabling support the stable management and horse management courses run by the team, alongside the day to day competition and clinic programme. Coaches hold British Horse Society qualifications including Stage 4 Senior Coach and Stage 5 Performance Manager.
Craven Arena sits within the college grounds at BD23 1US in North Yorkshire, within the Yorkshire and the Humber region. Opening hours run Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and on Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The centre is listed on the British Horse Society approved register. Those interested in booking arena hire, entering a competition, or attending a clinic should contact Craven College Equine Division directly for the current schedule and availability.
