Established in 1954 on the outskirts of Nottingham, Bassingfield Riding School provides horse riding lessons alongside livery services and hacking for riders across the East Midlands. The school teaches beginners and children, with semi-private sessions starting from GBP 30 for 30 minutes. Lessons run from 8am to 8pm every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Riders of all abilities can choose from cross country, dressage, show jumping, hacking and working hunter disciplines. Own a pony days and pony parties are available for younger enthusiasts, along with holiday camps during school breaks. Disabled riders are catered for with dedicated lessons, and saddle fitting is offered alongside a tack shop on site. Birthday parties can be arranged using the facilities.
The yard is set up for year-round riding, with a floodlit all-weather outdoor arena, showjumping paddock and dressage paddock. A cross country course runs across the grounds, and jumps, games equipment and an outdoor speaker system are available for lessons and events. Indoor pens, outdoor pens, stables, a tack room and a livery room support full livery clients, and the site is licensed and rated five stars under animal welfare regulations.
Lessons and hacking are aimed at both adults and children, with BHS qualified staff overseeing training. The combination of indoor pens, outdoor pens and a floodlit arena allows schooling to continue in poor weather and after dark. Livery clients benefit from the on-site tack shop and saddle fitting service, removing the need to travel off site for routine equipment needs. Visitors are advised to contact the school directly to arrange lessons, book hack routes, or enquire about livery availability.
