North Kent College

Tonbridge, Kent

BHS approved

North Kent College operates an equine centre at its Hadlow campus near Tonbridge in Kent. The centre forms part of a rural land-based further education college and delivers an equine programme aimed at students working towards qualifications in the horse industry.

The equine facilities are based around stabling for 64 horses, giving students regular access to a sizeable working yard. Riding takes place in two international-size indoor arenas, which allow lessons and training to continue through poor weather, alongside outdoor arenas that provide additional space for flatwork and jumping. A cross-country course on site gives riders the opportunity to practise fixed fences and schooling over varied terrain as part of their studies.

Paddocks support the day-to-day care of the horses and offer turnout space. The centre also acts as a venue for competitions and training events, which gives students exposure to the running of equine shows alongside their academic work. Riders and students at varying stages benefit from the combination of classroom teaching, yard duties and structured ridden sessions.

North Kent College is listed on the British Horse Society approved register. The postcode for the site is TN9 2PW. Those interested in the equine programme should contact the college directly for course details, entry requirements, term dates and fees.
