Ham Polo Club

Richmond, Richmond upon Thames

Ham Polo Club in Richmond upon Thames is London's last remaining polo club, established in 1926. Set within extensive grounds along the river, the club runs a busy equestrian programme alongside its polo fixtures, with lessons available to riders of all ages and abilities.

The school caters for beginners and children, with structured riding lessons introducing the basics of horsemanship and progression on to more advanced work. Polo lessons form a core part of the offering and feed into the on-site Polo Academy, which provides a clear development pathway for players looking to take the sport further. Hacking is available directly from the yard, with bridle path access allowing riders to explore the surrounding area without the need for transport.

Facilities include a sand outdoor arena and a separate schooling ring for flatwork, alongside an all-weather canter track for longer work. Livery clients benefit from secure storage, tack rooms, hand-grazing space and CCTV surveillance across the yard. The clubhouse contains a bar and restaurant, and the club runs a brunch service, corporate events, hospitality days and team building activities throughout the year. Complimentary parking is provided on site.

Lessons start from GBP 80 for a 30 minute U7 weekend riding session. The club office is monitored Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and can be contacted for enquiries about lessons, livery, memberships and polo. The postcode for satnav is TW10 7AH. Riders travelling from elsewhere in London will find the club conveniently placed within Richmond, with good road links and nearby public transport options into the borough.
