Ayrshire Equitation Centre is a long-standing equestrian venue located on the outskirts of Ayr in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Set across roughly 80 acres of countryside, the centre has built its reputation on riding tuition and full livery services for riders of every age and stage, from first-time beginners taking their initial trot through to more experienced riders returning to the saddle after a break. The team also teaches children and welcomes riders with disabilities through its membership of the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Tuition at the centre covers a broad range of disciplines including dressage, show jumping, cross country, hacking, trekking and stable management. Riders can choose private or group lessons, and a selection of hacks takes them beyond the arena and on to nearby beach hacks and group or private treks across the surrounding country. Holiday activity weeks run under the own a pony camps banner, and the venue regularly hosts birthday parties, with packages available for younger riders who want to spend time with the ponies on and off the lead rein.
The facilities are centred on an American barn stable block containing around 50 boxes, a 50 by 30 metre indoor school with a viewing gallery, and a floodlit 25 by 50 metre outdoor menage. Supporting features include an all-weather riding track, an all-weather turnout pen, show jumps and working hunter fences, a wash bay with hot and cold water, a clubroom available for hire, a tack shop and on-site parking. Livery packages cover full, schooling, production and breaking services, and the centre can also assist with horse transport and horses currently for sale.
Pricing starts from GBP 15 for a 15 minute walk taster session suitable for age 5 and over, with the cheapest hack priced from GBP 40 per person for a two-hour group ride of three or more. The centre holds accreditation from the Scottish Tourist Board as Highly Commended and is approved by the Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland.
