Wardhouse Equestrian Centre

Wardhouse Equestrian Centre is set in Kilbarchan, near Johnstone in Renfrewshire, and operates as both a riding school and a working livery yard. Riders of all abilities are catered for, from complete beginners taking their first sit on a pony through to more experienced competitors. Lessons are offered privately, in groups, and through structured courses including Pony Club activity days, holiday camps and masterclasses. Children and adult riders are both taught on site, and lead-rein pony walks are available for the youngest riders.

The centre is affiliated to the Pony Club as a Pony Club Centre, giving younger riders access to a recognised programme of mounted and unmounted training. Tuition covers dressage, show jumping, eventing and hacking, with riders able to prepare for competitions or simply enjoy time in the saddle. Schooling and backing of horses is also offered as a service for owners. Group lessons run regularly and birthday pony parties are held on site, making the centre a popular choice for families.

Facilities include a 70m x 40m floodlit outdoor arena, an indoor arena for year-round use, a round pen, safety jumps and gallop fields. The stables are timber-lined and measure 12 by 14 feet, and horses benefit from secure year-round turnout. Riders and visitors can use the log cabin, which provides tea and coffee making facilities and a toilet, and there is parking on site.

The centre holds British Horse Society approved instructor qualifications, with both BHS Stage 1 and BHS AI status held on site. Events and competitions are run through the year, including coffee and canter sessions, and gift vouchers are available for lessons and experiences. Prices start from GBP 33 for a lead-rein pony walk. Wardhouse Equestrian Centre can be contacted directly for bookings, lesson availability and livery enquiries. The postcode for sat nav users is PA10 2PU.
