Thurleigh Equestrian Centre in Bedford is an adults-only riding school catering to riders aged 18 and over. Lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis or in pairs, allowing tuition to be tailored to each rider's goals and current level. Riders can take private sessions, group sessions with a partner, or assessments that map out their next steps. Training clinics are scheduled throughout the year, giving regular clients the chance to work with visiting coaches.
The centre covers dressage, flatwork, groundwork and hacking, with instruction suited to riders wanting to build confidence, return to the saddle, or progress competition skills. Riders do not need to own a horse to use the facilities; lessons can be taken on centre horses, while horse owners are catered for through a full livery service. Off-road grass track hacking is available directly from the property, offering a change of scenery from arena work.
Two arenas form the core of the facilities. A 20x40m indoor arena is fitted with a Martin Collins Geltrack surface, mirrors and a sound system, and a 20x60m outdoor arena combines a Martin Collins rubber and sand surface with mirrors. Both are floodlit and monitored by CCTV, allowing sessions to continue into the evening year-round. Supporting facilities include a horsewalker, a solarium, sand turnout pens, and individual or small group turnout paddocks.
Thurleigh Equestrian Centre holds British Horse Society Highly Commended status. The site is also home to Horses and Courses Limited, a BTEC-approved home study training provider, and Progressive Strides, an alternative provision for young people with SEND. Arena hire is available for external riders and coaches. The centre is licensed and accessible. For enquiries, the postcode is MK44 2DB.
