The Causeway Coast Arena
Coleraine, Causeway Coast and Glens
The Causeway Coast Arena, based in Coleraine within the Causeway Coast and Glens area of Northern Ireland, has been providing therapeutic riding since 1975. Operating as RDA Causeway Coast and Glens, the centre works with riders who have disabilities and is set up to make horse riding accessible to as many people as possible. Lessons and structured therapeutic sessions are the core of what the centre does, with children among those who attend regularly.
Disciplines on offer centre on therapeutic riding, alongside general riding lessons suitable for a range of abilities. The team teaches children and adults alike, and volunteers are welcomed to support the work of the centre. As a long established member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, the arena follows recognised standards in coaching, welfare and rider safety.
Facilities include a 100x50m main arena, a 200x200m outdoor arena, a 45x20m warm-up arena and a jump course. An on site cafe provides a place for visitors, families and volunteers to take a break. The outdoor setup gives riders plenty of space to work in, and the range of arenas means that different groups and activities can be accommodated at the same time. Arena hire is also available for outside bookings.
The centre is listed on the British Horse Society approved register and holds RDA accreditation, giving reassurance around the quality of instruction and horse care. It is located at BT51 3RW, just outside Coleraine, with straightforward access by road. Anyone interested in lessons, therapeutic sessions, volunteering or hiring an arena can contact the centre directly for further information and session times.
