Stainsby Grange Riding Centre

Stainsby Grange Riding Centre is a BHS-approved equestrian centre located in Thornaby, Middlesbrough, operating as a British Showjumping show centre alongside its riding school and livery yard. The centre sits on the BHS approved register and holds a long list of scheme accreditations, including BHS Challenge Awards, BHS Pony Stars, BHS Ride Safe Assessment Centre, BHS Changing Lives Through Horses, and BHS exam centre status. It also works with Pegasus CIC to deliver neurodiverse group sessions.

Riding lessons are offered to riders aged 3 and upwards, with beginner and child-friendly provision clearly available. Showjumping coaching is taken seriously here, with training available up to international level through clinics and regular coaching sessions. Holiday camps and birthday parties form part of the programme, alongside pony walks starting from GBP 15 for a 15-minute session and pony party bookings for younger visitors. Horse loans are arranged through the centre for those looking for longer-term involvement.

The facilities on site are extensive and include two indoor riding arenas, a large outdoor arena, a large lunge pen, and a horse walker. The yard area is made up of five internal yards providing 80 permanent stables, supported by two wash boxes and shower facilities. Visitors can watch from a 90-seat gallery and sponsors box, while drivers benefit from a car park and a lorry park with hook up. Two cafes on site provide refreshments during lessons, shows and events.

Beyond lessons, the centre runs shows and competitions as a BS show centre and offers a full livery service. Lessons are available Monday to Saturday, and the postcode for satnav users is TS17 9AB. With BHS training and exams delivered in-house, riders can work through structured qualifications without leaving the site, making the centre a practical option for anyone in the North East looking to combine regular lessons, competition goals and a professionally run yard environment.
