Pony Trek Thetford Forest operates from small stables in Santon Downham, on the edge of Thetford Forest. The yard runs pony trekking directly through the forest, alongside hacking, group lessons and a learn to ride course. Sessions are designed to introduce new riders to horses gradually, with introductory lessons available for complete beginners. Children are a core part of the school, with toddler treks offered from age 2 upwards and group lessons available from age 7.

Riders can choose from pony care and ride sessions, woodland treks, sessions for alternative educational provision and dedicated Home Education sessions for children not in mainstream school. The school teaches both riding and stable management, giving visitors practical experience with the ponies. Pony parties are held on site and make use of the outdoor seating area and schooling area. A 10 stone weight limit applies to riders, and beginner suitability is assessed when booking.

The site has stabling for the ponies and a schooling area for lessons and groundwork. A forest cabin with kitchenette is available for warming up or taking a break, and it can also be hired for separate use. Toilet facilities are on site. The setting within Thetford Forest provides direct access to woodland trails for trekking and hacking, making the location well suited to riders who want time outdoors rather than time in a manège.

Pony Trek Thetford Forest holds a 5-star local authority licence, the highest rating awarded in the current licensing scheme. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 to 15:00 and Sunday 9:00 to 14:30, with the yard closed on Mondays. Prices start from GBP 13 for a one-hour Home Education session. Bookings are taken directly through the school, and prospective riders are asked to confirm age and weight in advance so a suitable pony and session can be arranged.
