Ponderosa Equestrian Centre is a British Horse Society approved riding school and livery yard situated in 100 acres of permanent pasture near Newport, South Wales. The centre runs group and private lessons across dressage and show jumping, welcoming complete beginners through to more experienced riders. Children are catered for alongside adult riders, and the teaching team uses both indoor and outdoor facilities so lessons can continue regardless of weather.
The facilities on site are extensive. Riders have access to an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, a 50x30 metre warm-up arena, a 1.25 acre competition arena and round pens. A horse walker and purpose-built livery stables support the yard side of the business. There is also a two acre lorry park and HGV parking, which is useful for owners transporting horses to events or clinics.
Livery clients can choose from DIY, full or working packages, and the yard is open to liveries from 07:30 to 21:00. Beyond regular lessons, the centre hosts British Dressage competitions and training clinics, British Showjumping competitions, and private showjumping lessons. Ponderosa is also a British Dressage training centre and has a British Showjumping coursebuilder on site, giving riders the chance to school over quality fences and practise in competition conditions.
The centre holds a licence from Newport City Council and is listed on the BHS approved register, giving confidence to first-time owners and parents booking lessons for children. Arena hire is available for those bringing their own horses. Ponderosa Equestrian Centre is located in Newport, NP18 2DW, and beginner group lessons start from £36 per person per hour. Contact details and a full timetable can be obtained directly from the centre.
