Docklands Equestrian Centre, operated by Newham Riding School & Association, is a long-established equestrian centre in Beckton, East London (E6 6JF). The centre holds approved status with the British Horse Society and ABRS and is a member of Riding for the Disabled, operating as a registered charity (number 1043753). Lessons run throughout the year for riders from complete beginners through to more experienced equestrians, with group, private and shared-private formats available on a regular basis.
The centre is set up to welcome a wide range of riders. Children's lessons and general riding activities are offered alongside dedicated Riding for the Disabled sessions, making the facility accessible to riders with additional needs. Pony rides start from GBP 4 per lap (or three laps for GBP 10), providing a low-commitment introduction for younger visitors. Apprenticeship training, clinics, competitions, school holiday activities and a volunteer programme are also part of the centre's offering, giving riders multiple ways to get involved beyond standard lessons.
Facilities include a 20x60m indoor arena and a 20x40m floodlit outdoor menage, both finished with an all-weather surface, allowing lessons and training to continue regardless of the weather. The American style barn houses 22 loose boxes together with a farrier's box, a tack room and a tea room for visitors. Twenty-three livery boxes support the DIY livery service, and on-site parking is available for both cars and horseboxes or trailers. Show jumps are on site for schooling and competition practice.
Reception is open Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm; the centre is closed on Mondays. Newham Riding School & Association can be contacted through Docklands Equestrian Centre in Beckton, East London, where staff can advise on lesson bookings, livery enquiries, RDA involvement and volunteering opportunities.
