Longfield Equestrian Centre is a British Horse Society approved riding school set on the edge of Todmorden in the upper Calder Valley. The centre is licensed by Calderdale Council and sits within easy reach of Halifax, Burnley and Rochdale, drawing riders from across the Yorkshire and Lancashire border. Lessons start from GBP 18 for a thirty minute group class, with private and semi-private sessions also available for those who want one to one instruction.
Riding tuition covers dressage and show jumping, and the school welcomes beginners through to more experienced riders. Children are catered for alongside adults, and group gathering lessons give less confident riders the chance to build skills alongside peers. Stable management sessions are offered for those who want to learn about horse care as well as riding, and pony parties are available for children looking for a different kind of birthday celebration.
The facilities include both an indoor and an outdoor arena, allowing lessons to continue through poor weather and throughout the year. A solarium, a grooming and wash off area, and on site parking are all provided for clients and liveries. The centre also runs Vale Park Stud, handling breeding work on the premises.
Full, working and DIY livery packages are available for owners wanting to keep their horses at the centre, and horse training is offered for those who need help bringing a horse on. A self catering holiday cottage on site lets visiting riders stay over and make a short break of their trip. Anyone interested in booking lessons or arranging a visit can contact Longfield Equestrian Centre directly at OL14 6JN. The British Horse Society approved status and the on site stable manager provide reassurance for those new to the yard, and the long list of services means riders can stay with the centre as their interest and ability grow.
