Lochside Arena

Isle Of Lewis, Na h-Eileanan Siar

BHS approved

Lochside Arena is a community equestrian facility located on the outskirts of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. It provides a 60x30 metre indoor sand arena together with a 30x30 metre outdoor arena, giving riders an all-weather space as well as an open-air option during finer conditions. Ten indoor stables are available on site, alongside changing rooms and office facilities for those running or attending events.

The centre operates primarily as a hire venue, with the arenas available for equestrian events and other activities throughout the year. Regular club days and competitions are hosted at the arena, giving local riders a chance to train and compete without leaving the island. Membership options are offered for those who wish to use the facilities on a more frequent basis, and groups or individuals can also book the arenas for private sessions, clinics or non-equestrian events.

Lochside Arena serves a wide cross-section of the Outer Hebrides equestrian community, from grassroots riders and pony club members to those organising larger shows. The combination of an indoor and outdoor arena of substantial size makes it a practical venue for dressage, show jumping, training clinics and community gatherings alike. Its position on the edge of Stornoway means competitors travelling from elsewhere on Lewis or from neighbouring islands can reach the site without difficulty.

The facility is listed on the British Horse Society approved register, having met the verification criteria set by the BHS. Anyone wishing to enquire about arena hire, club days, membership or upcoming competitions can contact Lochside Arena direct at the postcode HS2 9JN on the Isle of Lewis, Na h-Eileanan Siar.
