Horwood Coombe Equine Centre
Based in North Devon, Horwood Coombe Equine Centre combines equine facilitated learning with forest school activities for children and young people aged 5 to 25. The centre focuses on personal development, using horses and woodland sessions to build confidence, communication and practical skills. Lessons and group programmes are tailored to younger learners as well as those in post-16 educational provision.
The setting supports a wide range of visitors and is accessible to those with additional requirements. A mobile classroom, post-16 study area, music barn and games room give groups indoor space for written work, music or downtime, while a kitchen area and toilet facilities cover everyday needs. Covered fire pit areas in the woodland allow outdoor cooking and bushcraft sessions to go ahead in typical Devon weather.
On the equestrian side, the livery yard and tack room support the horses used in sessions, and an assault course in the grounds adds an active outdoor element to group days. Equine facilitated learning and forest school sessions run alongside livery services for horse owners, making the site a working yard as well as an education centre.
Horwood Coombe Inspire is an ABRS registered equine centre and holds an animal activity licence issued by Torridge District Council. Schools, parents and local authorities can enquire directly through the centre to discuss group bookings, individual placements or livery arrangements. The mix of indoor facilities, managed woodland and a professional yard gives the centre a practical base for both learning and horse care in the North Devon countryside.
