Fletchers Farm Riding School is located in Fordham on the outskirts of Colchester, Essex, and caters to riders of all ages and abilities. Group and private lessons are available for complete beginners through to advanced riders, with a clear progression route through pony and junior awards and on to the BHS Changing Lives Through Horses programme.
Three schools sit on site, including a 40 by 20 metre indoor arena with mirrors and lighting, a 60 by 40 metre outdoor school with mirrors and lighting, and a second 40 by 20 metre outdoor school. Together with a floodlit setup, hacking and jumping lessons, and stable management instruction, this gives the school a workable year round timetable regardless of weather. Holiday activities, birthday parties and clinics run alongside the regular lesson programme, and lead rein hacks are offered for younger children.
The facilities extend well beyond the arenas. Five separate stable blocks, a horse walker, individual turnout fields, a lunge pen, lorry parking, a car park and a farrier bay are all on site. Riders benefit from heated and alarmed tack lockers, plus on-site toilets and a shower. The same grounds house a separate livery yard offering full, DIY and part-service livery, with five separate blocks of stables.
Fletchers Farm holds British Horse Society approved status and is also a member of the Association of British Riding Schools, with a five star rating from the local authority. Gift vouchers and a loyalty scheme are available for regular clients, and a taster pony ride for children starts from around GBP 24 for a fifteen minute session.
