Birtles Equestrian

Cheshire East

Birtles Equestrian is a riding school based in Cranage, near Holmes Chapel in Cheshire. Lessons are offered in private, semi private and group formats for children aged seven and upwards as well as adults, with provision for complete beginners through to more experienced riders. Coaching covers a broad range of disciplines including dressage, show jumping, cross country, hacking and stable management, allowing pupils to build a well rounded foundation or focus on a particular interest.

The centre caters to a wide range of riders, from young children taking their first lessons to adults returning to the saddle. Pony days run during school holidays, and a part loan scheme gives riders the chance to spend regular time with a horse without taking on full ownership. Breaking and schooling services are also available for horse owners, and reiki healing is offered on site for both horses and humans.

Facilities include an indoor arena for year round riding, outdoor riding fields, a jumping paddock and a cross country course. The mix of indoor and outdoor space means lessons and schooling can continue regardless of the weather. Riders can take part in hacking across the surrounding Cheshire countryside, subject to appropriate experience and the school's assessment.

Birtles Equestrian is ABRS approved and licensed by Cheshire East Council. Group lessons start from GBP 20 for a 30 minute session. Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 to 18:00, Wednesday from 9:30 to 18:00 for loaners only, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00. Enquiries can be made by contacting the school directly for lesson bookings, pony day dates and part loan availability.
