Set within the grounds of a land-based further education college in East Devon, Bicton College Equestrian Centre serves both enrolled students and external liveries. The centre sits in a rural setting on the edge of Budleigh Salterton, giving horses and riders space to work away from busy roads.
The facilities are built around a 20m by 61m indoor arena finished with a waxed pro surface and full-length mirrors, paired with a 30m by 60m outdoor arena. Show jumps are available for course work, and a cross-country schooling field provides space for gridwork and schooling fences out of sand. Stabling covers 14 traditional stables alongside 24 internal loose boxes, supported by a weighbridge, solarium and horse walker. Gallery seating for 148 makes the indoor arena suitable for clinics and events. Teaching rooms on site allow lessons to combine ridden and theory elements.
Three livery packages are offered: full livery, part-time livery and working livery. Riders wanting to bring their own horse to the centre can choose the level of care that suits their routine and riding commitments. External customers can also book arena hire, lessons and use of the cross-country schooling field, subject to availability.
Bicton College Equestrian Centre is listed on the British Horse Society approved register. The centre is open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm and on Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Riders interested in livery, lessons or facility hire should contact the equestrian team at the college directly to discuss availability and prices.
